Lignano and Surroundings

Lignano, departure point on the Adriatic Sea for trips

Lignano Sabbiadoro boasts an 8 kilometres golden sand beach with a clean and calm sea, which every year is awarded with the European Blue Flag.
The luxuriant pinewood, the river Tagliamento and the lagoon of Marano are the setting of the city, which over the years developed quality services and facilities respecting the environment.

The strategic position of Lignano, in the North Adriatic Sea, halfway between Venice and Trieste, is also an excellent departure point for trips to artistic and historic cities or to discover the natural beauties and the very good local products of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

A holiday in Lignano offers the opportunity to visit wonderful places, including Trieste with its typical port, Piazza Unità d'Italia overlooking the sea and the castle of Miramare, Udine with the Loggia del Lionello and the castle on the hill, Villa Manin in Passariano, country-house of the last Doge of Venice, the archaeological site of Aquileia rich in ancient Roman remains and mosaics, the fortress city of Palmanova, national monument, Gorizia and its history of border town and, of course, Venice, the most romantic city in the world!

Friuli offers also towns with local tradition and jewels of great value as Marano Lagunare, ancient town on the lagoon which still has the “casoni” (houses) of the fishermen, the ancient capital of the Longobards Cividale del Friuli with the mysterious Celtic Hypogeum and the impressive Devil's Bridge, the wonderful and relaxing wine area of the Collio, San Daniele with its famous ham and the beautiful Julian and Carnic Alps, rich in nature, history and food.
